In the peak of their popularity since their commercialisation in the late 1950s, Halogen commonly used a 50w bulb per downlight.
As such, a house with 40 halogen downlights, being used for 4 hours per day at $0.28 per KwH will cost $1022.00 per year (not including the cost of bulbs, transformers, lampholders and electricians).
